Principle of Disposable Circumcision Stapler

(Foreskin Gun)

The “foreskin gun” is a medical device used for performing circumcision, formally known as a disposable circumcision anastomosis device. It is designed to shorten operation time, reduce bleeding, minimize recovery duration, and improve patient comfort.

Advantages

Short surgical time

Minimal bleeding

Neat wound edges

Faster recovery

Disposable design reduces cross-contamination risk

01Basic Principles
1. Foreskin Fixation The device first secures the overlong foreskin in place, protecting the glans and coronal sulcus. This ensures a consistent and precise length of excision. 2. Hemostatic Compression The stapler applies circular compression to the foreskin, similar to a stapler mechanism. This step compresses blood vessels to reduce intraoperative and postoperative bleeding. 3. Simultaneous Cutting and Anastomosis Once activated by the surgeon, the foreskin is circumferentially removed while the device simultaneously staples the wound edges to a neat incision. 4. Automatic or Manual Staple Removal Most devices use staples that fall off naturally within 1 month post-operation. In some cases, staples need to be removed during a follow-up visit.
02Disadvantages and Precautions

Higher cost compared to traditional surgery Not suitable for all cases (e.g., very short foreskin, infection, or scar tissue) Potential complications include staple allergy, incomplete detachment, hematoma, and poor wound healing

03Preoperative Instructions
1. Hygiene Preparation • Clean and dry the genital area the night before and the morning of the surgery. • It is recommended to wear loose, breathable underwear and pants to avoid pressure on the surgical site. 2. Diet and Physical Condition • You may eat normally on the day of surgery unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. • If you have symptoms such as a cold, fever, or urinary tract infection, inform your doctor in advance; surgery may need to be postponed. 3. Medications in Daily Use • Inform your doctor of any medications you regularly take, especially blood thinners (e.g., Aspirin). 4. Anesthesia Assessment • Local anesthesia is typically used. Inform the doctor if you have any allergies or sensitivities to anesthesia.
